Arthritis Treatment
Arthritis is the breakdown of cartilage that covers the bones that make up joints. You may be more familiar with the term, “bone on bone.”
Arthritis can affect the major joints (hip, knee, shoulder) and the smaller joints (ankle, wrist, fingers). Arthritis can be treated conservatively with anti-inflammatories, activity modification and injections of cortisone.
Specifically for the knees, hyaluronic injections can be used. These injections mimic the natural cartilage we have. Definitive treatment for arthritis of the larger joints in our body is total joint replacement.
