Joint Bursa Injections and Aspirations
Joints can be affected by many different issues. Arthritis and trauma are the most common. Sometimes, the joints will become swollen or produce extra synovial fluid. You may be more common with the term, “water on the knee.”
Aspiration, or drainage of this extra fluid may be warranted for pain relief or diagnostic purposes. Injections of cortisone, which is an anti-inflammatory, are used to decrease the swelling and pain found in joints due to injury or arthritis.
